Key Responsibilities
- Project Analysis:
Review and interpret blueprints, plans, and specifications to understand the full scope of a project. - Quantity Takeoffs:
Accurately determine the quantities of materials, labor, and equipment needed for construction. - Cost Estimation:
Calculate all project costs, including materials, labor, equipment, transportation, and subcontractor fees. - Vendor and Subcontractor Management:
Solicit, review, and analyze bids from subcontractors and suppliers to ensure competitive pricing. - Software Utilization:
Use specialized software for estimating, quantity takeoffs, and project management. - Collaboration:
Work closely with architects, engineers, project managers, and clients to gather information and discuss project details. - Bidding and Proposals:
Prepare and present detailed cost estimates and bid proposals to clients and project stakeholders. - Value Engineering:
Identify opportunities for cost savings and recommend alternative materials or construction methods. - Risk Assessment:
Analyze projects to identify potential risks and challenges that could impact cost and timelines. - Data Management:
Maintain historical cost data and databases of material prices and labor rates for future estimates.
