House Person – Ruston, LA

A hotel houseperson (or houseman) is the backbone of the housekeeping department. They perform heavy cleaning, supply distribution, and support the room attendants.
Their duties ensure the hotel’s public spaces remain pristine and room attendants have the supplies they need to clean guest rooms.
Primary duties generally include:
Linen & Supply Management
  • Stocking Carts: Delivering clean linens, towels, and toiletries to floor closets and room attendant carts.
  • Removing Soiled Linens: Collecting dirty laundry and taking it down to the laundry facility.
  • Supply Inventory: Assisting with maintaining supply storage rooms and managing inventory control.
Public Area Cleaning
  • Lobbies & Corridors: Vacuuming, dusting, and polishing furniture in the main lobby, elevators, and guest hallways.
  • Trash & Recycling: Emptying and sanitizing trash cans, ashtrays, and recycling bins throughout public spaces.
  • Restrooms: Deep cleaning, disinfecting, and restocking public restrooms.
Guest & Staff Assistance
  • Guest Requests: Delivering heavy items to rooms (e.g., rollaway beds, cribs, extra pillows, or luggage).
  • Room Attendant Support: Helping room attendants by moving heavy furniture, turning heavy mattresses, or stripping linens from vacated rooms.
  • Maintenance Assistance: Performing minor repairs (like changing lightbulbs) and reporting larger maintenance issues to the appropriate department.
